BP applied for a permit to do deep water drilling off the Pacific Coast. Most people didn't know what the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement was thinking letting BP drill for oil off the California shore after the disaster in the Gulf.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the only supporter of BOEMRE's approval, said, "Us west coast people care none about the Gulf of Mexico. We don't even live there! Why not people? BP's getting the permit and that's final!"
Somehow, in the debate, Schwarzenegger won out and the permit was issued.
Afterward, BP went insane! All of a sudden new Pacific rigs were popping up left and right.
BP's newest oil rig ZX656X2354YNV3 is rigged to self-destruct on the Fourth of July. "It will be a firework show like no other," said a BP spokesperson. "It won't just be a firework show, it'll be a fireoilandnaturalgaswork show!"
